I felt it fundamental to further my education through choosing to pursue a Master of Arts degree in General-Experimental Psychology, which has been my field of interest throughout my educational life. I am passionate and I thirst for knowledge on psychological research, and pursuing this master degree program at your institution, would help in the advancement of my career and achieving my career and life goals and objectives. Through this program, I would be able to gain a broad background in psychological knowledge and methodology that would prepare me for advanced work in psychology and in other employment fields. This graduate application essay will inform you about my research interests and clearly outline and discuss my career objectives.
My research interest grew from the labelling theory and social interactionism. I am keen to determine how an individual`s self behavior and identity is influenced by what classifies them. How the majority would identify and label minorities and those people that are deviant to the cultural norm. With this general idea, I am particularly interested in focusing on how the American Public Educational System, especially K-12, influences one`s self image and ethics.
