Professional Statement
When I joined college to pursue my degree, I knew clearly that this was where I wanted to be. I am passionate about becoming a renowned and established chemical dependency counselor. I am fulfilled each time I help people with substance use disorders (SUDs) recover and lead healthy lives. This is my motivation for undertaking social work education. My dream is to continue impacting many people's lives with my extended knowledge once I complete the Master's social work program.
My past experiences in social work and being a chemical dependency counselor steer my interest in pursuing social work education. I have met people with SUDs whose cases were challenging, and this broke my heart. For instance, certain patients came from complicated family backgrounds with bizarre cultural beliefs and expectations, negatively influencing their treatment. In such cases, my efforts to help these patients were thrown to the drain and tied both of my hands, such that I could not help them further. For such experiences, I am interested in becoming more knowledgeable in social work and simplifying the complexities within families and communities.
My major social work career goal is to gain professional experience by setting up a modern, diverse, and culturally inclusive recovery center. Through this recovery center, I will be able to reach as many SUD patients as possible.
