Career goals
Since my first semesters as a student in the Computer Science degree at Georgia State University, I have developed a deep and extensive interest in matters relating to cybersecurity. Within the bounds of the university, this interest grew and culminated into my senior research project tackling the nuances and facets of Cloud Security.
In the context of my post-graduation career objectives, I want to further and more deeply develop this interest so that I may apply it in professional settings. I want to acquire both the knowledge and experience that will enable me to help strengthen the cyber security systems of corporations, businesses, departments, agencies, or other groups and entities in charge of handling personal information and other sensitive data.
As an aspiring professional hoping to establish myself in computer science, I believe cybersecurity is becoming more relevant, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic, which has pushed most businesses and services online.
This surge in the relevance of cybersecurity, I believe, is two-fold: as to its technical aspect and as to policies relevant to it. Both concepts are offered in the Georgia Tech Online Master program. Georgia Tech is renowned for its excellent instruction, the opportunities for growth it offers to its students, and its status as a formidable contributor to the research. All these factors contribute to my belief that Georgia Tech is the best choice for my professional career goals and objectives.
Ultimately, my end goal as a professional is to be able to contribute to the community and help keep sensitive information and data safe and free from compromise or breach.
Relevant educational background and practical experience
I am currently taking up a Bachelor of Science in Computer, emphasizing Applied Mathematics at Georgia State University. In this degree, I have taken the following relevant courses: Calculus (1-4), Data Structure (Java), Design and Algorithms, Operating Systems, Systems Level and Programming, JavaScript and Web Design, and Computer Science and Organization. For my senior research project, I researched Cloud Security in the field of Computer Science.
I have obtained practical and professional experience in the following fields: As a media coordinator and web designer in the Loyola Marymount University Academic Center in Los Angeles, CA, from January of 2020 to May of 2020, where I was tasked to research, write, proofread, and edit content before executing them on websites. It was also my responsibility as media coordinator and web designer to create and design web layouts, determine technical requirements of websites, and continuously update and monitor these websites.
