Here's a rough draft I've created so far
“Look at me!” My five year old self twirled around as I was dancing and prancing around my house when all of a sudden, my left foot carelessly smashed into the bedroom door, and I fell to the floor screaming in pain. My parents took me to a pediatric orthopedist, where I was diagnosed with an ankle fracture. I remember being extremely frightened as I was experiencing such pain like I never felt before, and I didn’t know what was going to happen to my foot. However, I remember the orthopedist making me feel calm and relaxed as he put my foot into a cast, and told me that I was going to be alright. The way he treated me when I was so anxious about my foot, had such an impression on me to the point that I began to think that I might want to go into the health field when I grew older.
Throughout my childhood, I was always interested in the sciences, and I was one of the few children that actually enjoyed going to doctor’s appointments. I loved the pictures and diagrams of the human body, and I enjoyed interacting with my doctors as I would pepper them with so many different questions about my body and my health, and they always seemed so delighted to patiently answer my questions in such great detail. As I grew older, I began to attend sleepaway camp in the summers. While most children try to stay away from the camp infirmary as much as they can, I could not get away from it. I wouldn’t be sick often, but I loved finding excuses to visit the infirmary. I was always curious to see why kids were there, what conditions they may have had, and what was being done to treat them. My passion and interest in health and medicine also went hand in hand with my love for sports. I was always an avid baseball, football, and hockey player, and the physiology of the human body especially when it comes to the muscles and bones had always fascinated me.
