Article Summary
There is relationship that exists between performance and participation in sports by high school as well as college students. This is evident from various studies that were carried in United States over the years to determine how the two interact. The article is divided into three distinct parts with the first one looking at the positive relation between sports and especially athletic to performance. The second part of the article looks at the various factors that enhance the achievement of success in school (Hartmann, 2008). This is in regard to the type of game, school environment, social groups and the association of sports with the school curricula. Finally, the third part of the article looks at policies that should be formulated and designed in addition to suggesting further research in the future. In the entire article, the focus is on interscholastic athletics and how they are able to manage their studies.
Through a multifaceted body and long term research, it has been identified that there is a positive relationship between education performance and sports. It is found that students in high schools, who participate in games on average, perform better than their peers who are not athletes (Hartmann, 2008). The explanation of this relationship is supported by causal factors, social sources and other mechanisms that work together to reinforce learning. However, it is noted that there exist some complexities in identifying real factors that result to increased performance for the athletes.
