Public and private spaces are designed to accommodate the people and deliver their purpose. Parks and playgrounds are built following how people would comfortably enjoy and utilize the space. Family homes are designed depending on the number of family members and the likings of the family. These spaces hold purposes in the way they are brought into actuality from a design. That is one of the reasons why architecture continues to develop itself. It goes with the trends in design and technological advancement.
According to Jeremy Till (2008), architecture is dependent on many factors that influence the design and style. He argues about the contingency in architecture and how architecture is not just about beautification and absolute. On the other hand, campus architecture combines purpose, beauty, and history in its designs and creations. The campus architecture of UMASS Amherst reflects their vision and values (Miller & Page, 2013). This implies that the university gives importance to the vision and values they hold that they want it to manifest in their architectural structure. These studies give us an idea of how architecture is shaped by the purpose of the structure and the people that will set foot on that structure.
Researches like that of Till (2008), and Miller and Page (2013) reshapes architecture from its previous forms. Since its discovery as early as when humans learn to live outside caves, architecture has been serving purposes that are suitable in its generation and demands.
