Q.1: Multiplier and Rypple meet the criteria for effective performance management.
The new Facebook-like Performance Multiplier program and the twitter-like Rypple are newly built applications by Accenture, and a Toronto startup that are today used for measuring performance management. The applications provide standards that are uniform for employee evaluation and customization of the performance appraisal forms (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, & Wright, 2011). As they are designed currently, that is as software on social media, they do not meet all the criteria for effective performance management. While they might be easily accepted and generate immediate feedback, their validity and reliability is not proven. However, they provide good platforms for discussion as they add value to the performance management evaluation process (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, & Wright, 2011).
Q.2: Suitability for strategic, administration and development
The two applications link the behavior of employees with the goals of the organization as the employees are required to post their daily or weekly goals hence allowing for adjustment; therefore, their strategic suitability. Moreover, these applications allow posting of status updates just like Facebook and twitter and as mentioned above, the documentation of goals and achievements (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, & Wright, 2011). In addition, they facilitate the filling of performance management evaluation forms properties that are essential for administration. The tools provide immediate feedback on a real-time basis in a dynamic and democratic manner. Therefore, they allow a complete review of information and data hence provide vital information required for development (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, & Wright, 2011).
