Doodling can simplify communication especially where there is a language barrier between global colleagues as it is easier to read, follow, and understand diagrams than listening to words (Silverman, 2012). Drawing and taking notes may also make one more focused on the message being communicated, promoting the effectiveness of the communication.
The use of a paper and a pen to draw charts and objects as a way of communication is considered a remedy to the pervasiveness of digital culture where workers always have to refer to their devices for answers (Silverman, 2012). This way, workers become much involved in finding solutions and formulating communication messages, which tend to make them retain more of the information being dealt with. Doodling is therefore, suitable where considerable individual participation is required in a problem solving process.
