In line with the need to eliminate the mortality rate among children below the age of five, the New York City has embraced a new concept. The concept is aimed at ensuring that as many children get access to medical care. Known as the Children’s Health Fund, this project also seeks to take medical services to the doorsteps of families that would ordinarily not access the medical services.
The introduction of mobile clinic under this project has come a long way in ensuring that people in most remote places can still access medical serviced. More often, some of the children who die before attaining the age of five are as a result of lack of enough information (Brown et al, 2012). Therefore, besides paving medical services to families with children, they also take time to create awareness. This helps parents to be on the lookout for any life threatening medical situations in their children.
One of the principles upon which this project is based upon is to make considerable improvements from the traditional forms of medical services that have been offered. The project has incorporated the use of technology so as to depart from the traditional forms of record keeping (Brown et al, 2012). Use of paper records is not only cumbersome but also difficult to retrieve when information is needed.
The Children Health Fund is a noble project and one of the most successful in New York.
