Amazon’s Rating Control
Summary:
In order to protect its most valuable media assets, Amazon has taken an unprecedented step. It shut down the ability to rate Lord of the Rings: The Ring of Power on Amazon itself. However, Amazon can't seem to shut down reviews forever without making them look strange, so now they are back.
Question 1:
Amazon tried to protect "Ring of Power" from being bombarded by negative comments that happened on rotten tomatoes. The score of the show was 39%, while IMDB (owned by Amazon) scored 6.8/10, accounting for 24% of all the scores, which was a 1-star rating. In your opinion, is Amazon's behavior of closing the rating right or wrong? If Amazon insists on shutting down “Rings Of Power” star ratings for a long time, will it affect the organization? If so, what is it?
Question 2:
By reading the article, we can see the paragraphs with comments about “Rings of power”. What do you think of Amazon's control over reviews? In your opinion, what impact does this practice of Amazon have on the organization? Explain it.
