Amazon is an American company that entails electronic commerce which is the online selling of goods and cloud computing and it based in Seattle a city in Washington. Jezz Bezos launched Amazon on July 5, 1994. It is the biggest online-based sales company in the globe. Amazon Company began as an online bookshop, but it later diversified into selling electronics, furniture, toys, compact discs, audio book downloads jewelry, digital versatile discs, and furniture. The company is the most renowned provider of cloud infrastructure services. In addition, it sells low-end products like USB cables. Amazon has different retail websites for countries like the United Kingdom, United States of America, Germany, Netherlands India, and France among other countries. Amazon faces competitions from many companies. For example in the media segment, it faces competition from eBay and Netflix. In the electronics and general merchandise segment, it competes with Alibaba group and Wayfair lnc among other companies. In other operating segments, the company competes with some of the world’s largest and renowned companies such as Google, Oracle among others. Amazon Company owns some companies such as Alexa.com, Audible.com, AbeBooks, Goodreads, Woods. Amazon Company manages to make billions of money because of the sale of many diverse products and its ownership of so many companies. The company considers itself as a customer-centric company as it puts its customers above anything else. It ensures that customers are provided with quality services. Amazon company has provided employment opportunities to many individuals for example as of early 2017 it was established that it had almost 269000 employees. The employees work in diverse sectors such as customer service, finance and administration sector, software development, legal operations, fulfillment sector and human resource sector,

Amazon Company has an administration structure that consists of a chief executive officer, director, chief financial officer, and chief technology officer. The managers have roles and responsibilities. For example, the chief executive officer has strategic roles and operational roles. Some of the strategic roles include the establishment of the perfect market for the company. He is also supposed to ensure that resources are effectively being used within the company. In addition, he is supposed to ensure that the operation of the processes within the organization is efficient (Bernstein, 2015). The final strategic role of the chief executive officer is to lead executive committees and organize meetings at regular periods so that business issues can be discussed. The operational responsibilities of the chief executive officer include keeping trace of the financial market, forming and putting in practice strategies based on the financial analysis reports and finally taking up the actions to meet the requirements of the customers, stakeholders, societies, and employees.
