Choose an infant, child or adolescent to observe and interview, and possibly his/her parent if possible to interview. Write a paper describing what you have learned about that child, and relate the individual’s development to what you have learned in this class, including the readings and discussions, as well as possible outside sources. This is not just a report or story about this child, but also, and most importantly, an ANALYSIS of his or her development at that particular stage. Children’s development across their lifespan depends on diverse environmental aspects, support from family members, and exposure. Santrock (2020) argues that these social, family, economic, and personality factors influence the way a child adapts or fails to adapt to their developmental stage. In this context, this paper investigates a child’s physical, cognitive, and social or personality development within the middle childhood age category through their participation in routine plays.
This interview focuses on Jacob, a male child who had previously celebrated his 9th birthday.
