While you can read a great deal about various disorders, being able to identify such disorders when they are present is challenging. To assist you with visualizing the disorders you are studying, you will have the opportunity to view the video interviews below with clients who have been diagnosed with various disorders.

For the assignment you need to:
First review the diagnosis and case history of the disorder.
Create at least 2 questions you would ask (these can also be taken from the videos) and identify the theme of the question.
Make sure to keep notes on the questions and the answers that were given.
Prepare a case summary covering the following points.
Describe the diagnostic criteria for each disorder. See your Abnormal Psychology textbook or DSM
List the interview questions that you created. Explain why you chose those questions. Summarize the responses given to your questions. Be sure to pick questions that were answered in the interview, work backwards.

Diagnostic criteria for ADHD, Tourette’s syndrome, and Schizophrenia.
To diagnose ADHD, one must present five or more symptoms of inattention and hyperactivity for more than six months when below twelve years old. These include concentrating, poor organization, failure to follow up on tasks, talking too much, and feeling restless. Severe symptoms are observed in at least two settings, and there is evidence that they interfere with one’s social, school, and work settings (American Psychiatric Association, 2013, pp. 59-61).
Tourette’s syndrome diagnosis involves a presentation with more than one movement tics such as irregular movements of eyelids or shrugging shoulders and one vocal tic such as screaming out words or sentences, humming, or clearing of the throat. Also, experiencing the tics for a year, several times in a day before they were eighteen, and the symptoms are not a result of not taking medication for other ailments (American Psychiatric Association, 2013, pp. 81-84).
A Schizophrenia diagnosis is made when one presents two or more of the primary symptoms for about a month, including hallucinations, jumbled speech, delusions, reduced emotional expression, and gross disorganization (American Psychiatric Association, 2013, pp. 87-89).
