New Zealand recognizes the need for giving men and women equal rights and opportunities of contributing to and benefiting from development. Arguably, the eradication of retrogressive cultural practices, such as female genital mutilation and forced marriages is an effective way of empowering girls and women alike.
Besides, New Zealand reaffirms its obligation on enhancing gender equality and improving the economic outcome of women through various strategies.
