ANOVA is an acronym that stands for analysis of variance. It is used to determine whether experiment or survey results are significant, thus helping one to decide to reject the null hypothesis or accept the alternative hypothesis. In ANOVA, treatment refers to two or more factors being compared during the analysis on different study groups. The experimenter manipulates the factors in an experiment under various conditions. These factors manipulated by the experimenter are referred to as treatments (Henson, 2015). These different groups being studied are given treatments, and the effects of each treatment on each group are compared through analysis. ANOVA is preferred when analyzing treatments from more than two groups, while t-test analysis is suitable for studies consisting of two groups only.
