The GCU Christian heritage makes the academic experience different from a non-faith-based university due to the set rules meant to guide the students. Christian heritage implies that the student is mandated to follow Christian values, and deviation would result in punishment by the authority (Purper et al., 2020). Doing acts that are seen as non-Christian would seem out of place, and the student would feel they are doing something not required by the values of the Christian traditions.
The rules are meant to respect fellow students, teachers, and God. Students are therefore meant to adhere to the school rules as well as the biblical rules. There are some rules found in the bible that non-faith-based universities assume; hence, more rules would mean students are more responsible. Not only do the students benefit from the education system, but they also benefit spiritually. In cases of non-faith-based universities, students can decide whether they will attend church on Sunday or not. However, the GCU has a rule that all students at the university have a duty to attend the Sunday service and behave according to Christian values during the service. GCU is essential in growing the student's spiritual side and reducing poor behavior from the students.
Leaders of church groups can grow their leadership skills through training from local Christian leaders.
