Literacy-Related Mini-Lessons: Matthews Effect in Hockey

Students will develop three literacy-related mini-lessons. Each lesson will demonstrate the instructional strategies highlighted in course readings and discussions. The student will select appropriate materials and topics.
Mini-lessons are presented to the whole class. They last for no longer than 10 minutes. A mini-lesson focuses on an essential skill/strategy and should be delivered in a concise manner. They help students understand the objective of the lesson and why the topic is important.

* Explain to students that the Matthews Effect refers to the phenomenon where early advantages lead to cumulative advantages over time, while early disadvantages lead to cumulative disadvantages over time.
