Trisomy 21 is a genetic disorder that results from chromosome 21 producing extra genetic material due to abnormal cell division. The disorder, also known as the down syndrome, is identifiable through the distinct facial features, delays in development, and mental disability. In addition to such features, some of the trisomy 21 patients suffer from immune deficiency. Therefore, their average mortality is 55 years, which calls for the modification of hygiene practices when dealing with such patients. The hygiene practices help reduce infections in their bodies to avoid further complications due to the patient’s immune deficiency.
