The selected prevalent health issue is Overweight and Obesity. Health education would be delivered with the use of the Visual, Auditory/Aural, Read/Write, and Kinesthetic (VARK) model of learning. Visual: for people with this preference, the health education on Overweight and Obesity would be delivered by depicting information in flow charts, spider diagrams, labelled diagrams, graphs, maps, charts in addition to all the symbolic circles, arrows and hierarchies and other devices, which people utilize in representing what could have been presented in wording (VARK Learn Limited, 2016). Moreover, the health education will include shapes, patterns, whitespace, designs and the different formats utilized in highlighting and conveying information. It is notable that when the whiteboard is utilized in drawing a diagram with meaningful symbols to illustrate the relationship between various things, this would certainly be helpful to individuals who have a Visual preference (Sharma & Atri, 2014).
Auditory/Aural: this preference is essentially for spoken or heard information. The learners whose main preference is aural/auditory usually learn best from speaking, radio, lectures, using cell phones, group discussion and generally talking things through. It is notable that the aural preference includes talking out loud and even talking to oneself (VARK Learn Limited, 2016). As such, the health education would be delivered through speaking, giving lectures, and holding group discussions. Individuals who have this perceptual mode usually want to sort things out first by speaking instead of sorting their ideas out first and speak later. They might ask a question that has previously been answered or that is obvious. These people might need to say themselves and learn by uttering it.
Read/write: this describes preferring information which is displayed as words. The health education on Overweight and Obesity would be delivered through text-based input and output in the form of essays, PowerPoint presentations, reports and information delivered through the website on the internet since these individuals are addicted to words (Sharma & Atri, 2014).
