Delirium and dementia are among those health conditions that can significantly change the mental state of a person. Dementia is a chronic disease that may take weeks or months to show some signs. On the other hand, delirium is a medical emergency that should be paid attention to, or else, the patient is likely to lose his life.
Which characteristics describe the “moderate” stage of Alzheimer’s disease?
The moderate stage of Alzheimer’s disease is the longest one and may last for many years. The characteristics that distinguish it from the other states are difficulty performing tasks like playing the game and paying the bill, remembering things especially words and phrases, getting angry or frustrated, and behaving unexpectedly.
What nursing interventions are appropriate for managing behavioral symptoms of dementia?
Behavioral disturbances are often seen in patients with dementia, and the nursing interventions appropriate for managing the symptoms are cognitive activities, regular exercises, therapies and rocking chair intervention.
