As you write your paper, include the following: a) What personal, cultural, and spiritual values contribute to your worldview and philosophy of nursing? How do these values shape or influence your nursing practice? b) Define values, morals, and ethics in the context of your obligation to nursing practice. Explain how your personal values, philosophy, and worldview may conflict with your obligation to practice, creating an ethical dilemma. c) Reflect and share your own personal thoughts in regard to the morals and ethical dilemmas you may face in the health care field. How do your personal views affect your behavior and your decision making? 4) Do not be concerned with the use of ethical terminology for this paper. 5) Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. PERSONAL ETHICS Students Name Students Number Instructors Name Although most professions today call for enthusiasm and sacrifice, nursing tops the list when it comes to putting these two virtues into practice. One must persevere because the majority of the clients are not in their usual selves due to the effects of disease and calamities that usually necessitate need for medical attention hence interaction with those in the nursing profession. In most societies it is the healthy that normally take care of the ill and therefore the profession calls for people who are caring, courageous and who have a real calling to duty. There is also interaction with people from all walks of life and cultures; people of different religious beliefs, various ethnic backgrounds and both the rich and poor. Due to this interaction of multiplicity of cultures, those in the profession should be diligent and simplistic so that those they serve can understand them. They should also be accommodative of divergent views that will emanate from those being served (Lachman, 2012). However this should not compromise the standards set by the profession since some of the patients may be suffering incapacity due to the effects of disease to make any valuable decisions on the way they should be treated. This implores on the nurse to be courageous in ensuring the obligation of beneficence towards the patient is upheld. This is because these are the demands of the profession in upholding human dignity and respecting the autonomy of the patient in making decisions that pertain to the services that he is being accorded. Those in the profession must engage in paternalistic practices which will enhance restoration of health to the patients. This will involve consulting with all the stakeholders including fellow nurses, the patient’s family and other health professionals to ensure high quality services that will guarantee the required results.
