The eight principles of quality management are the pillars of the ISO 9001. The principles are also the guiding principles that are used by many professionals including those in the health care sector, to formulate the quality standards in health care delivery. Professionally and ethically the medical professionals are hard pressed to make sure that their service delivery is of utmost quality and hence the relevance of the principles (The British Assessment Bureau, 2012).
With reference to the principles of quality management, health care should be focused on the patients’ needs relative to their satisfaction now and in the future. Within the health care organization, the management should make sure that they establish pillars of unity between direction and purpose. This will ensure that the internal environment can support the organizational goals. For the organization to succeed, all the medical staffs employed have to be involved from all the levels of management. Furthermore, all of the health care resources and the activities resultant will have to be managed as a process to effect efficiency and cost reduction. The resultant processes can then be managed as a whole system, if the organization is to achieve effectiveness and efficiency. However, the continual improvement of the various processes of offering health care services should continually be improved.
