Nurses play a significant role in health care. However, the public perception of nursing shows significant misinformation. In most cases, the general public considers nurses just assistants to physicians before and after treatment (ASRN, 2007). Most people assume nurses give comfort to patients while supporting the doctor in ensuring the patient's comfort, hygiene, and administering medication. In addition, the perception has led many to believe that anyone can engage in the nursing role or that nurses do not need higher education (ASRN, 2007). For example, public perception is that "all nurses need is a caring nature," A university education is not highly necessary.
