It is arguable that US foreign policy during the 1930s helped promote World War II. Through President Woodrow Wilson, the US was initially in support of the League of Nations. It was his wish to make World War I the war that would end all wars (OpenStax, 2019). The establishment of the League of Nations was part of the Treaty of Versailles. However, the pursuit of noninterventionist policy by the US meant that it did not join the League of Nations, rendering it less powerful. Therefore, the indifference of the United States resulted in the eventual failure of the League of Nations, leading to the outbreak of World War II. Had the US joined the League of Nations, the outbreak of the war could have been prevented.
