Combining Bureaucratic and Relational Approaches in Enhancing Coordination
One can combine relational and bureaucratic approaches in enhancing coordination in an organization by utilizing their advantages. Through the incorporation of both approaches, it is possible to establish horizontal and vertical networks in an organization. Therefore, one can share ideas across a given organizational level via discussions and such information passed to other higher management hierarchies. When bureaucratic and relational approaches work together, they tend to reduce hostility of the workforce in an organization. This is through recognizing the efforts and the roles of individual persons in the different levels in the success of the organization. One also needs to utilize the continued process of coordination, which is achieved through direct contacts of individuals in different organizational levels. Applying the two approaches further enables one to establish unity in the entire organization pooling together different talents from various individuals.
Applying both relational and bureaucratic approaches further enables achieving of shared system thinking and integration of knowledge.
