Rational and bureaucratic organizations differ in various aspects. From a rational system viewpoint, organizations are basically instruments which are designed to achieve certain goals. A rational form of organization is understood as a model utilized in predicting how a company structures its organization to more congruently align with the fundamental objectives and goals the company desires to attain. The rational model, or the rational organization theory maintains that business organizations are structures which are designed to accomplish particular goals in ways that are predictable and logical. A bureaucratic form of organization is different from the rational form in that it has tight and rigid procedures, constraints and policies; and the firm often reacts with strict controls in addition to an unwillingness to change or adapt.
