2.Which of the progressive presidents was the most progressive? Which was the least progressive? Explain.
Roosevelt was the most progressive president because he was open to reforms. He brought a lot of attention regarding the progressive issues in the national level for them to be discussed. Hence, he increased the influence that the government had on economic affairs. Taft was the least progressive president because he aimed at continuing with Roosevelts agenda of progressiveness. However, he discovered that he was not the best fit to do so and hence, lead the split of the Republican Party.
3.What changes did progressivism bring to America? How was America different in 1920 from what it had been in 1900 because of progressivism?
The progressivism agenda resulted to a lot of reforms in the American system such as the eradication of child labor, introduction of better educational system for all the Americans and also, solved the various problems that were associated with urbanization. Before the progressivism, America had a lot of political, social and economic problems which were solved by the year 1920 to result to the above improvements.
5.“From its beginning to its end, the progressive movement was, more than anything else, paradoxical.” What evidence could be used to support this statement?
The efforts made by community activists, labor groups and other decision makers where able to accomplish various victories. The various victories included policies that in turn, undermined the democratic activities that had made it possible to accomplish the victories. Therefore, this contradicts the motive of the progressivism.
