Ready Player One is the story of an American high school student who spends a large part of his life in a virtual world known as the OASIS (Cline 19). Wade Watts disconnects himself from the real world and is attracted toward magical things that soon cause a lot of problems for him. While there are chunks in the latter half of the science fiction novel that takes place outside of the OASIS, the readers are given a lot of insights of a virtual world. Personally, I believe that Ernest Cline has stressed the power of an imaginary world, making us forget about what the realities of life are.
