Introduction
Pop art is based on modern popular culture and mass media. The aim of the art is to act as an ironic or critical comment on the traditional values of fine arts. The traditional arts were made using contemporary media of the societies which existed at the time. Therefore, the assignment explains how pieces in ‘MoMA Long Run and Bodys Isak Kingalez exhibitions’ use the elements of popular culture and how they relate to Roy Lichtenstein art.
How Pieces in ‘Bodys Isak Kingalez and MoMA Long Run exhibitions’ Use Elements of Popular Culture
The materials used in making the buildings in Bodys Isak Kingalez exhibition show that the technology at the time was low. The sculpture was made using objects and materials that were available such as bottle tops, cans, and tubes. The work is tied to the style of architecture at the time and how the society intended to improve their economic development by designing a plan for modern houses.
Another element of culture that prevailed during the time is the religious beliefs of the people within the region. There is no building that resembles a mosque in the plan, which means that the people within the area were not Muslims. Also, the architecture indicates that the people who made it are literate and live in urban areas. The buildings and the plan of the region indicates that it is a cosmopolitan area. The buildings are more expensive and large. Hence, the person who made the plan hopes for a society which is more developed.
However, MoMA Long Run exhibition shows the level of art work at the time. Several colors that are used today had not been invented during the time. Also, the painting is made using light colors. Generally, the work is considered simpler than modern painting which means that the work was made at the time when art work was starting to evolve.
Luckily, several luxurious items had been invented during the time. For example, the luxurious bed, glass lights, and seats seen in the painting.
