Being able to communicate your thoughts and ideas successfully—both academically and professionally—requires practice and style. Barack Obama is one of the most powerful leaders of the western world. As leader of the free world, he is met with a lot of responsibilities that surpass those of the United States. The reason for the selection of this personality is that, throughout the history of the United States presidency, there has never before been a black president. This is fundamental considering that the United States is more than two hundred years old and has been ruled by 43 presidents, all of whom were white, until Barack Obama. Making to this list has been one of the most fundamental and ground breaking revolutions for the African Americans living in the USA. Most of them have lived through the oppression and segregation of the African American community since the days of slavery (Biography.com, 2015).
Like most exceptionally successful people, Barack has also had to overcome some obstacles to get to where he is today. One of his main obstacles relates to the identity crisis that he experienced as a young man. Having been born of a African Americans and a white mother, he had a problem establishing his identity. His parents had separated when he was two and later on his mother remarried to a white and they had a white daughter, meaning that Barack at the time was the only African American in the family. Eventually he also had to overcome the fact that he was African American, in a country that was overly dominated by white legislators (Biography.com, 2015). Being the only African American president was an achievement that can never be under estimated, considering the history of the African American in the United States.
