Employers have the responsibility to provide a conducive working environment for the employees; one that safeguards the interests of employees. Employees have the rights to be treated with respect irrespective of their diversity. Any form of discrimination within a workplace should be highly discouraged to enhance employee satisfaction, which is necessary for improved efficiency. Employee should be given equal opportunities to compete for the available positions, based on their competencies qualifications. Proper treatment of employees can be explained using two theories, the ethical approach and the legal approach.
Ethical approach elucidates that employers should conform to the highest ethical standards and best practice in the treatment of their employees. It demands that an organization provides a favorable working environment to their employees by facilitating fair pay, work-life balance and fair opportunities for the growth and advancement of employees’ career.
