Data visualization is the presentation of data or information in a graphical or pictorial format. For many years, people have hung on visual exhibitions such as maps and charts to comprehend information more quickly and easily. Decision makers at different levels welcome the use of data visualization software since a lot of data is collected and afterwards analyzed. The software enables them to capture analytically the results presented visually, communicate hypothesis and concepts to others and sometimes predict the future. Due to the nature of the human brain, it is faster and easier to capture the meaning of information displayed visually in graphs, charts, computers, among others rather than information on spreadsheets and written reports.
There are several factors that have led to globalization of data visualization, therefore, becoming a very important tool. Visualizations relay information in a more universal manner, therefore, making it possible to share information and ideas with others. It enables people to be interactive, "Are you seeing what I am seeing?" "If we adjust some variables what would happen?" In data analysis and reporting, spreadsheets are very hard to visualize. A lot of time is wasted in analyzing information on the spreadsheets hence need for data visualization. Unlike other methods, data visualization makes it easy for data interpretation. With the increased use of software in data interpretation, computers are making data analysis and interpretation easier and more convenient.
