Human Resource professionals use the lesson plan to facilitate training and development. The lesson plan facilitates adequate instruction through instructions, practice and feedback. The lesson plans include steps to be followed in a lesson, trainee activities, instructor and time allotted for each activity (Noe, 2010). The detailed lesson plan in turn incorporates details and sequence of training activities that guide trainers in training sessions. A program design for training includes a design document that is part of a detailed lesson plan. The detailed lesson plan typically contain: training goals, target audience, method of training, problems to be addressed in training, location, lesson outline, time of training and scope to be covered.
Since the goals and particulars about the lesson plan are stated, this facilitates adherence to a program, whereby both the trainee and trainer are aware what is expected of them. In any case, the lesson plans are written and hence can be used for future reference where it is possible to share information with trainees and stakeholders interested in the training program. The lesson outline allows trainers to highlight on all aspects of training giving an overview of training expectations. This is turn aligns the training sessions with the needs of the target audience.
