Among the 25 lessons proposed by Peter Drucker, I once experienced the effects of his seventh lesson that focuses on customer. It states that, the primary function of business is to serve customers, while the goal of the business is to create customers. The aim of marketing is to discern and understand customers well to produce goods and services that fit them.
It was one of those extraordinary days, when Milligan Fashion House decided to go out of its way, to reach out to its customers in a more personalized way. Being one of their customers, I received an instant lunch, free samples of the company branded t-shirts and a shopping voucher from the company. I was one of the lucky customers. The manager walked out of the car to say hallo and thank me for being a loyal customer. Not many companies think this way, but serving customers is not about telling or speaking to be heard.
