In the Atlanta poultry processor, an EPSS was used to provide an on-a-need basis the technical knowhow and skills to the employees of the company (Noe, 2010). The main reason for its use was the need for the company to address the changes that were happening in the market which saw the introduction of new machinery in the processing industry sector. Since the technical employees had no prior knowledge of the new machines, they required an electronic performance support system to assist them in their daily work description of maintaining and repairing the same.
The ESPP was very useful when it came to the training program as it enhanced the transfer of learning by availing an electronic information source to the employees. This resource meant that they could refer to the system as their needs required(Noe, 2010). By being able to access this information, it was a guarantee that in the long run, the trainees could apply the capabilities learnt into their respective job requirements.
The EPSS was also essential when it came to the training program because it improved the maintenance capabilities of the employees. This is because; it provided repair instructions to the trainees in a detailed manner.At the same time it had an option where an employee could search for the availability of replacement parts and inventory of the same(Noe, 2010). This was after it had helped the employees have a quick diagnosis of any problems encountered by the processing machines.
