Few CEOs have been subject to as much criticism and attacks as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. Most famously, he was portrayed as the villain in the movie The Social Network. Shareholders have complained about his leadership and failure to increase the stock price of Facebook, and others have claimed he is socially inept and too young and immature to be a CEO of a multibillion-dollar corporation.
However, in spite of this criticism Zuckerberg is inarguably one of the most successful CEOs and entrepreneurs in corporate history. The small project that he created while he was a college student has become world dominant in the social media business and is still growing and expanding. So in spite of all of the criticism he clearly has been a successful leader.

Some of the leading multinational organisations were started by young persons who had a great idea and they gathered to put the idea in work. However not many young founders of these companies keep management under their rule and many prefer to have seasoned managers to take up their roles. Some do not have the expertise of feel the work has become too much for them and they need to transfer that responsibility to someone else. Some of the people who did this is the eBay fonder Pierre Omidyar who handed over to Whitman in 1998 and Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page who handed over to Eric Schmidt. These creative young founders are directed by wide expectations of their company rising responsibility of the company which they somehow feel its leadership demands and complexity is difficult to handle.
Facebook chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg is one of the youngest founder of a global company Facebook which has grown tremendously over the years. Founded in university hostel, Facebook has been a leader in social network platform covering all the continents in the world. With this growth, responsibilities have also multiplied leading to more leadership demands and complexity of tasks. This necessitates for team building skills as leadership quality to achieve long term business goals. There have been much criticism on Mark Zuckerberg over his credibility to run the multi-billion company over his age and business experience. Mark Zuckerberg is more of a transactional leader than a transformative leader. He uses managerial skills to supervise, organize and maintain group performance by promoting compliance. Although he has some few quality of transformative leadership which have helped the company identify the needed changes he lacks vision and inspiration to execute these changes with the committee members of the group. As a leader he lacks the quality that enhances motivation, morale and job performance to his juniors by being a role model (Kirkpatrick, 2012).  On the contrary, Mark Zuckerberg deals with crisis and emergency situations as he keeps the company management the same without paying attention followers.
Facebook can be termed as one of the most successful company in the world by showing growth throughout the years. However there are some growth that may be brought by experience and wisdom from older mentors. As a result, this helps to maintain command and control over a large scale. In 2005, Mark Zuckerberg was torn between making a great decision of whether to go on with buyout offers or to retain the company. This caused tension in the company and communication seemed to come to a halt as he never explained his plan to his employees. This kind of an error in leadership may create company breakdown where the junior employees are unable to make decisions on what to do (Ray, 2011). It is until consultations were made between the employees and Mark Zuckerberg that the company got aligned to its objectives.
