Currently, FedEx is exploiting all the advantages of e-commerce. Rayport and Jaworski (2003) present that the organization formed its website in 1994 to enable customers to access information. Since such a period, the corporation has developed the significance of the website as a platform for developing customer interest as well as attracting clients. In addition, the corporation has managed to form exceptional online shopping solutions for its clients; thus, enable customers to buy items from its websites. The company’s online portal has enabled shopping to be much easier, to save cost and time of traveling to a physical store and to ensure products are delivered directly to clients (Axson, 2013). The company’s website facilitates shopping online and allows clients to share their views about products and services they receive from the corporation. Registered clients are given personal login including passwords; therefore they can rate and review services and products sold at the company’s store. FedEx swiftly responds to such reviews to enhance customer satisfaction and develop its operations.
E-commerce offers great benefits to the corporation. The company’s online platform has managed to attract and contact many customers; currently more than 60% of clients buy online via FedEx Web Services (Iverson, 2009). The company is using e-commerce to gain competitive advantage against its rival competitor (UPS-United Parcel Service, Inc).
