In my experience as a leader, I have experimented with different leadership instruments, which have enhanced my leadership skills. For instant, before I execute any activities, I plan ahead by avoiding abrupt activities. In such a case, I make a list of what should be done within specific times and ensuring that everything is completed within the specified desired time. I prefer working based on facts and not relying on theories. This has helped a lot in achieving most of my goals because I analyze issues based on reality (Briggs & McCauley, 1985). I value realism; I often ensure that I review all the facts then follow my conscious, meaning that I do follow my heart. However, I would have liked if I learned how to assess my leadership skills using such an instrument as Myers-Briggs Types Indicator assessment (MBTI). This would have helped me understand myself better in relation to the skills I have acquired through my experiences with some of the leadership theories I have learned.
Compared to what many people would expect, leaders should be outgoing, but in my case I consider myself reserved, which is causing poor relations with some of my subordinates.
