Haggling is an old-fashioned way of pricing where the buyer negotiates with the seller for a reduction in the tagged price of an item. Traditionally some items are negotiable while others are non-negotiable. Some of the products that were non-negotiable but are now subject to haggling are electronics such as television sets. We went to buy one from the shop that had a price tag of $300 with my dad, but we ended up buying it at $100 less the tagged price (Hames 2011).
Before we went shopping, we researched online for the prices of different brands of televisions. We sampled the different brands and settled on one. Further, we carried out background checks on the selling behaviors in the shops. We interviewed clients who had purchased items from these shops, aiming to get information on price flexibility.
