In spite of uncertainty within the job market, the main reasons as to why employed people in the United States say they remain with their present employers are enjoying what they do, and work-life fit as said by a survey conducted in August 2012 by the American Psychological Association. Fewer workers gave concrete reasons for staying on the job, for instance lack of other job opportunities, pay, as well as benefits. The Workforce Retention Survey was carried out over the internet – online – by Harris Interactive for APA between 3rd August 2012 and 7th August 2012 amongst 1,240 grown-ups age 18 years and above who live in the United States. The participants of the study are employed and work either part-time or full-time. Data for the survey were gathered with the use of omnibus survey. The survey basically investigated the factors which contribute to staff retention.
Presently, a lot of employers are facing the task of keeping their workers motivated and creating high level of job contentment amongst their personnel. Formulating policies and programs which develop job satisfaction and motivate staff members often takes money and time to develop.
