Generation Y: Millennials (ENG 101)

Essay Instructions:

Assignment Case ENG 101 In a well-organized and well-supported essay, identify three to five reasons explaining what you believe has made today\'s Gen Y, \"the Millenials,\" the way that they are. What are the causes? Who, or what, is responsible? A well-organized essay has a beginning, middle, and an end. The beginning, or introduction, should include an opening sentence to grab your reader’s attention. Follow the opening sentence with a brief background on the topic or situation. In this case, it would be a definition and characteristics of Gen Y. The last sentence of the introduction is the thesis statement. The thesis states the main point of the essay, which in this case, would be a statement affirming what had made Gen Y who they are today. A well-supported essay includes supporting points, details, and examples. For this essay, you must decide the best way to organize the body of the paper. Will you have a paragraph for each reason or cause? Will you divide the body of your paper into three paragraphs, one for each cause? In any case, each body paragraph must support (explain) your reasoning (rationale) using specific details. Each body paragraph must have a topic sentence that states the main point of the paragraph. The conclusion typically summarizes the main points of the essay and/or closes with a lasting impression that connects the reader to their world. Be sure to proofread your essay and edit for proper grammar, punctuation, diction (word choice), and spelling, as errors in sentence skills will lower a final grade. A grade will be determined based on the Module 2 Case expectations and the Trident University General Education rubric for English. Papers must be double-spaced in Times or Times New Roman font (12 cpi) with standard one-inch margins. The first person \"I\" is not used in a formal essay, nor is the passive \"you.\" In place of \"you,\" \"one\" may be used. No secondary sources are to be used in the process of writing this first paper; it is to be entirely written based on one\'s point of view and supported with body points and details. Expectations Write an essay (no less than two pages in length) that states an original thesis statement on Gen Y. Include an introductory paragraph with thesis statement. Include body paragraphs (each with a topic sentence that states the point of the paragraph) that support the thesis through examples and details. Include a conclusion that summarizes the main points of the essay and/or leaves the reader with a lasting impression on the issue. Proofread your essay for errors in grammar, diction (word choice), punctuation, and spelling.

Generation Y: Millennials
Teenagers, as well as people in their twenties and early thirties have been dubbed the Generation Y, or simply the Millennials. These are basically persons who were born between the early 1980s and early 2000s; the birth range of 1982-2000 is commonly applied for this particular group. They are referred to as Generation Y because they came after Generation X – those born between the early ‘60s and 1981 (Telesca, 2013). The Millennials is a generation of technologically savvy young persons who are creative problem solvers. Thesis statement: The millenials have a spontaneous sense in understanding technology because of the environment wherein they have grown up considering that technology has at all times been part of their lives. This generation cannot imagine a world with no cell phones, computers or internet.
Technology: There are a number of reasons that has made Generation Y be what it is today and the most noteworthy is technology. Millennials possess an instinctive sense in understanding technology primarily because of the environment where they have grown up in. This generation brings a much more innovative and creative approach to problem solving in relation to any other earlier generation prior to them (Sinar, 2013). In essence, technology has at all times been a component of their lives and a world devoid of mobile phones and internet, is simply inconceivable to them. They prefer to learn via online courses and making use of technology to obtain information. For Generation Y, the main sources of communication are via text messaging and email. Technology makes the Millennials a totally inimitable group. These people have been engrossed in technology from when they were still young, and they do not recall what the world was like prior to the internet, computers, as well as mobile phones. It is notable that these gadgets ...
