In addition, it identifies how it portrays the human condition. Gregory is the focal character in “The Metamorphosis” and the author transforms him to a large insect. He works first as a salesman and benefits his members of the family who are poor and without income (Kafka, 1996). At this level he is seen as very humane and caring until he is turned to a large insect. This makes him live an isolated life since he is not able to get out of the house of go to work. He is very afraid of not going to work fearing to be sacked and the provision for the family members would be hard.
