What I Have Learned
I have learned about offering instructions to students through diverse approaches and perspectives to help them comprehensively understand what they learn. Offering instructions based on self-explanation is the first approach that I have learned. This instructional practice involves asking students to come up with explanations for themselves. The strategy plays a pivotal role in helping students to gain more knowledge and make sense of new information (Rittle-Johnson & Ehr, 2016). The mandate of generating self-explanations rests squarely on the students. The content generated is exclusively used by the learners.
The other instructional practice I have learned is giving instructions based on cooperative learning. In this method, educators organize learners into small groups. Learners in those small groups assist each other to learn (Cui, n.d.). The teaching method critically helps learners to develop such social skills as communication skills. In addition, it is advantageous because learners learn different ideas from members of their respective groups.
Last but not least, I learned about offering instructions based on peer learning. This involves offering peers the opportunity to exchange ideas and share answers to questions posed to them. Since peers are allowed to discuss answers among themselves, the method favors learners with attention deficits. It offers such learners the motivation to like school.
Application of What I Learned
