Discussion 2 - Leadership versus Management (no more than 175 words) Banks and Ledbetter (2004) suggested that leaders may “have more in common with artists, scientists, and other creative thinkers than do managers” (p. 19) and that perhaps “leaders are the artists … while managers are the craft persons” (p. 20). On the other hand, in Dunoon’s (2009) discussion of leadership versus management he stated, “they are different, they aren’t opposites.” He later asked an interesting rhetorical question: “why do we need to disentangle leadership and management?” Furthering this discussion, English (2008) and Northouse (2022) both highlighted similarities and differences in the two roles. Based upon the literature and remembering that we need both within an organization, do you have a tendency to be more of a leader/visionary or a manager/administrator and what are your thoughts: is this a dichotomy of constructs and practice or simply a matter of semantics? Servant & Godly Leadership (no more than 175 words) While Northouse (2022) devoted an entire chapter to servant leadership, a few years earlier, Banks and Ledbetter (2004) made an interesting statement: “From a Christian point of view, it is only when the direction and the method are in line with God’s purposes, character, and ways of operating that godly leadership takes place” (p. 17). Based upon these authors and any other relevant literature, do you think servant and godly leadership are synonymous? In other words, can you be a godly leader without being a servant? Can you be a servant leader without being godly? Banks and Ledbetter (2004 ) further proposed that “faith and leadership meet where calling, values, and action come together” (p. 32). How do your faith and leadership co-mingle and how does this align with a Biblical/Christian worldview? Clampitt (2017) spoke of both propositions and approaches to communication. In terms of servant and/or godly leadership, which of the seven propositions seem most evident and why? What about the three approaches; which seem most evident and why?

Leadership Discussion Paper Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Course Professor’s Name Submission Date Based on the literature and considering that management and leadership are vital for any organization, I tend to be more of a visionary because I emphasize strategy and the big picture. I push innovation and normally think ahead, I am willing to take risks, and I can inspire and motivate groups of people, as well as solve big problems. My thoughts are that visionary leaders require good managers to obtain results and offer reality. This is a dichotomy of constructs because good managers require visionary leaders to inspire and execute purpose. Servant and godly leadership are synonymous. It is impossible to be a godly leader without being a servant. Servant leadership ensures those being served grow at an individual level and while being served, the persons become wiser, freer, healthier, more autonomous, and develop a legitimate inclination to become a servant as well. This is congruent with godly leadership because it...
