The American Nurses association code of conduct has several provisions. However, provision seven is the one concerned with matters of continuing education.
This provision requires that nurses participate in activities that contribute to their progression in their profession through education among others.
Mentorship is one of the avenues through which nurses engage in continuing education.
Nurse educators play a significant role in ensuring that nursing education incorporates continuing education.
The AACN also instituted a measure in 2006 that included clinical doctorate in nursing education. It allows advanced practice nurses to receive training with a doctor of practice.
