Introduction
Medicaid is a health program in the United States of America that caters for low income families and people. The Medicaid program is funded by the United State of America and the Federal governments. The program is being managed by the state. The Medicaid program only serves the citizens of the United States of America or the residents who have acquired permanent United States of America citizenship (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services 2007).
The majority of the beneficiaries of the Medicaid program is children, low income adults, and people with certain disabilities. Medicaid program is the largest funded health insurance program for the poor and people with a disability in the united State of America (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2002).
Eligibility criteria for the Medicaid program
Residency in Texas
The Medicaid program in the state of Texas will serve only those individuals who are residents of the state. Those who are outside the state are not qualified to get the services within the Texas state.
U.S. citizenship
The Texas Medicaid will serve the people who are qualified as United States of America citizens. Individuals who have acquired permanent U.S. citizenship are also eligible for the Medicaid program. Those who are from other countries are not eligible for the Texas Medicaid program and will not be considered for the program.
Income and resource limits
Texas Medicaid scheme serves the families with low income. Texas Medicaid does not consider low income in determining the eligibility of the beneficiaries (Hill, 2006). The scheme considers the income of the family. It also considers people with minimum resource allocation. The individuals who are residents of Texas State will be considered for the program if they have limited resources.
