The way health professionals provide medical services to their patients significantly depends on the knowledge they obtained from schools. Notably, the curriculum shows the things that students should be taught and how they are required to behave when handling sick individuals. For this reason, I agree that if healthcare students are educated throughout their curriculum together with the core competencies being used as the framework, patient-centered care would be delivered at a higher quality.
All physicians should be educated on how to provide patient-centered care, which is one of the essential core competences in the healthcare sector. A doctor who has been trained with core competencies being used as the framework respects and identifies patients’ preferences, values, and differences. As such, the individual listens and coordinate healthcare services well with the primary objective of helping sick people. Notably, the core competencies are professionalism, leadership, interpersonal communication, quality improvement, and the utilization of informatics (Albarqouni et al., 2018).
