In the deliberations to ensure taming of delirium in the ICU patients, there is bound to be projects initiated to ensure success of the undertakings. At t times, the projects succeed while at other times there could be failures. In order to ensure success of the projects, it is crucial that the involved healthcare providers consider several factors. The policies that guide the initiation and undertaking of such projects must be put in to considerations. For instance, the will of the patients and the closest people to the patients should not be breached. Campbell, Fisher, Anderson et al (2015) assert that; the right procedure for undertaking the project must also be followed. There should be temptations to follow short cuts in a bid to save on cost or anything such that there is failure.
There are crucial factors that orient to the success of projects initiated in the detection and management of delirium in ICU patients. The cost to be incurred is a crucial factor to be considered. The projects that orient to cost effectiveness should be selected. Again, the project should entail measure of cost cutting in a manner that does not compromise the quality of the results. Data must also be collected effectively so as to ensure that the project(s) to be initiated are based on the need on the ground and not on mere assumptions. Another crucial factor that must be considered is the support from stakeholders. The available support must be put into consideration. In order to have the necessary support from the stakeholders, it is crucial that they get to be informed concerning the project to be initiated right from the beginning.
Unsuccessful project solution
When there is success in the initiation of a project plan in delirium in ICU patients, there is usually a follow up to ensure successful implementation. On the same note, there should be follow up when there is unsuccessful project solution. The aim for this latter follow up is to check where the problems emanated from and to ensure that in the next phase of initiation of such project there will be no repeat of the same barriers. All this is aimed at achieving successful project plans in order to have smooth running of affairs of detection and management of delirium in the ICU patients.
