Analyze and critique a QUALITATIVE nursing research article from a nursing research journal published within the past 5 years. Nursing peer-review. You must include five scholarly references—the article, the text, and three outside sources.
Need to Answer all questions.
Your qualitative research report analysis requires an in-depth analysis of the following questions:
• Is the problem clearly stated and is significant to nursing or health care?
• Is the purpose clearly stated?
• Is the research question stated broadly enough for a qualitative study?
• Is the study design consistent with its qualitative approach?
• Are the subjects obtained using a method consistent with the qualitative methodology?
• Is the setting appropriate for the study?
• Are the data collection methods consistent with the purpose of the qualitative approach?
• Are the rights of human subjects protected?
• Is evidence of data saturation provided?
• Are the data analysis procedures appropriate for the type of data collected and the qualitative method?
• Is there sufficient evidence of scientific rigor?
• Are the conclusions and implications appropriate and clearly stated?
• Are suggestions for future research included?
In-depth analysis includes the discussion of your decisions about each or these specific topics. It is an explanation based on what you can find from available resources.
If an item is not clear or not correct in your opinion, state why you think that with research justification for that decision. If you think an item is clear, the same justification is needed to substantiate what you say.
Thank you, many Blessings!

Swan, B. A., Becker, J., Brawer, R., & Sciamanna, C. N. (2011). Factors Influencing the Implementation of a Point-of-Care Screening Tool for Delirium. MEDSURG Nursing, 20(6)
The problem is clearly stated. In this peer-reviewed article, Swan et al. (2011) stated that nursing professionals are crucial in evaluating the risk for delirium – a serious health problem – since they offer round-the-clock care and observe the patient in various conditions. Failure to recognize this health problem could result in poor events such as urinary tract infections, increased hospital length of stay, and even restraint use (Swan et al., 2011; Elliot, 2014). Interventions, as Elliot (2014) pointed out, are required at the point of care in order to aid nursing staffs recognize delirium and enable them to make appropriate interventions. Even so, nursing staffs first need to understand how to recognize delirium before the can implement the appropriate strategies (Swan et al., 2011; Belanger & Ducharme, 2011; Jung, Lim & Kim, 2013).
The purpose of the qualitative study is stated. The authors pointed out that their purpose in this study was essentially to explore the things which may influence the computerized execution of the Confusion Assessment Method (CAM), an important tool used by nursing professionals to screen delirium at the point of care on 3 units. The authors have not stated the research question. Even so, the objective is expressed extensively enough for a qualitative research study. The study design is consistent with its qualitative approach. Swan et al. (2011) used qualitative descriptive method.
The subjects were obtained through convenience sampling technique, a method that is consistent with the qualitative methodology. The sample consisted of 2 focus groups – one had 5 participants and the other had 10 participants – which represented 30 percent participation rate of nursing staffs on the 3 study units. The setting is appropriate for the study; it included 3 orthopedic units in which patients are admitted after emergency and elective orthopedic surgery (Swan et al., 2011).
The methods of data collection are consistent with the purpose of the qualitative approach. Swan et al., (2011) used focus groups. Bedside nursing staffs who would utilize the system at the point of care and ICUs were signed up to be included in focus group discussions. In the focus groups, a semi-structured interview format was utilized. The researchers have not reported about the protection of the rights of human subjects. Data saturation occurs when a researcher reac...
