The authors further stipulate that caring for diabetes and diagnosing it is complex procedure that involves many aspects that goes beyond the glycemic intervention. Furthermore, the article states that in the recent years, there has been development of diagnostic tool and intervention methods for diabetes patients which are likely to be used for present diagnosis and treatment. For a couple of years, HbA1c has been used in management of diabetes. Therefore recent developments in the field will give physicians the authority to apply this simple blood test to diagnose both pre-diabetes and diabetes. Periodic measurement of glycosylated hemoglobin is a tool that is most familiar to diabetic patients. The blood test which is administered after every three months will assist in determination of how best a patient is controlling his blood sugars levels (Prevention Program Research Group, 2002).
